Australian electronic act The Potbelleez’ new single, ‘Magic Number’, marks the first time 24 year old rapper B.o.B has appeared on an electronic track.
Perhaps most famous for their hit single ‘Don’t Hold Back’, The Potbelleez follow up their most recent single ‘Saved In A Bottle’ by exploring the realm of hip hop.
With B.o.B garnering massive success including six Grammy nominations, 28 million album sales, three US number 1 singles and collaborations with the cream of the US music industry including Katy Perry, Bruno Mars and Taylor Swift, B.o.B brings a certain element of star-power to the synth-laden ‘Magic Number’.
To explain the recent wave of US artists appearing on Australian productions, Potbelleez member Jonny Sonic suggests that, “there is such a big vibe on Australian producers and artists right now in the USA. This is the start of a new wave of hip hop/dance albums.” Which indicates that we may see a rise in US/Aus collaborations over the next year or so.
