The Presets will perform with the Grammy Award winning Australian Chamber Orchestra in a show that will feature music from 40,000 years ago through to Nirvana.
‘Timeline’ is the newest musical venture for the Australian Chamber Orchestra’s Richard Tognetti who has teamed with Kim Moyes and Julian Hamilton of The Presets to present a musical adventure beginning with the sounds from Aboriginal culture from 40,000 BC.
‘Timeline’ is a time travelling piece moving into Sumerian drones of 4000BC and classics from the 14th century and culminating in the immediate past and present with the music of Miles Davies, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Radiohead and Nirvana.
“It’s musical time travelling,” Tognetti says. “It will be shocking but also highly revealing. Before you go to bed on the night of Timeline, you’ll have heard 42,000 years of music that our ancestors have drummed, scraped, blown and sung.”
The Australian Chamber Orchestra will begin the journey while The Presets and the ACO will bring the music into the modern age. “From the rhythmic magnetism of their songs to their haunting vocals, The Presets are a very important musical outfit and they will bring something special to Timeline,” Tognetti said.
“While we have enjoyed recognition in the contemporary music sector, our influences and our musical background have always been very broad, and have informed the music we create to this day,” The Presets added. “We were honoured to be asked to be contribute to Timeline – it’s a privilege to select so many meaningful works for the piece, and to work with the ACO.”
