The Pretty Things will return to Australia for the very last time.
After 55 years, Dick Taylor and Phil May will retire the iconic band that influenced David Bowie. Bowie later covered two of their songs ‘Rosalyn’ and ‘Don’t Bring Me Down’. One of his early songs ‘Oh You Pretty Things’ from 1971’s ‘Hunky Dory’ album was inspired by The Pretty Things. The 1987 Tin Machine album contained the song ‘Pretty Thing’. Then in 1999 Bowie wrote and recorded ‘The Pretty Things Are Going To Hell’ from his ‘Hours’ album.
Before forming The Pretty Things in 1963 Dick Taylor was the original bass player for The Rolling Stones. He left the Stones in November 1962 and was replaced by Bill Wyman.
For this tour The Pretty Things will perform their classic ‘S.F. Sorrow’ from start to finish at the Thornbury Theatre show in Melbourne. The Thornbury show will be the only show on the tour where the album will be performed.
