The Romantics Are Planning A Sydney and Melbourne

For a brief moment at the start of the 80s The Romantics were basking in their 15 minutes of fame. Australia was good to the band. Unlike America, they weren’t a one hit wonder here. They had two hits.

The classic ‘What I Like About You’ was driven by Countdown. While the song failed to make the top 40 in the USA, it reached number two in Australia. You can thank Ian ‘Molly’ Meldrum for that. He championed the song on Countdown when no-one else in the world cared.

The band’s other hit was ‘Talking In Your Sleep’. It reached number 14 in Australia but gave the band their first (and only) hit in America when it peaked at number three.

The Romantics will tour Australia in October and November with special guests Pseudo Echo.

The Romantics Australian dates

October 31, Sydney, Factory Theatre
November 2, Melbourne, Chelsea Heights Hotel
November 3, Melbourne, Doncaster Shoppingtown Hotel
November 4, Melbourne, Corner Hotel

Toto Returns To Melbourne #Review

Toto’s 2025 setlist focuses on the heritage of the band. The setlist was interesting. Compared to how it was curated for Australia in 2019 this time Toto kept to the albums of the 1900s. Mind you, there were no complaints from the audience for doing that. The biggest hits came from those early years.
