The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo will perform in Australia in Melbourne in February 2016.
In 65 years the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo have only performed outside Scotland three times. The Melbourne event will be the first time the 1200 piece troupe will play in Melbourne. It previously visited Sydney in 2005 and 2010 and Wellington New Zealand in 2000.
The event was announced in Melbourne by the current producer Brigadier David Allfrey MBE. “In six and a half decades our unique event has been presented abroad on three occasions,” he said. “So we are delighted to be returning this time to Melbourne with a brand new show with the best bands and performers from around the world. If you ever wanted to travel to Edinburgh to see the Tattoo, it’s now coming to you Melbourne.”
The show will feature a full sized exact replica of Edinburgh Castle, a world heritage site. The actual castle dominates the backdrop of Edinburgh. The castle was converted to a Royal residence in the 11 century by Queen Margaret. The residence was once home to Mary Queen of Scots and her son James VI, who became King James I.
The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo will perform at Melbourne’s Etihad Stadium for three shows on February 12 and 13.
Tickets will be available from Ticketmaster from Monday May 25.
