Chris Bailey will form a special edition line-up of his historic band The Saints for three very tiny Melbourne pub shows in October.
The Saints were punk before punk. The song ‘I’m Stranded’ was released in September 1976 before the first Sex Pistols and The Clash releases. The Saints stepped into punk as The Ramones were releasing their first music.
‘I’m Stranded’ was recorded in Brisbane in June 1976 with Mark Moffatt producing. It is now considered one of the greatest moments in punk rock ever.
The original Saints lasted for three albums spread across 1977 and 1978. After the original band split, Bailey kept the brand alive and took the band to a new level of success in 1986 with the ‘All Fools Day’ album and the track ‘Just Like Fire Would’.
The 2016 line-up for The Saints is Bailey with Iain Shedden, Pat Bourke, and Davey Lane.
The Saints will perform three shows at The Gasometer in Melbourne on 5, 6 and 7 October 2016.
