The Stone Roses played a surprise gig at the Warrington Parr Hall in Cheshire overnight (May 23). It was their first public gig in 16 years.
The Stone Roses played the gig for the charity HUGS (Helping Uganda Schools). The fan base was tipped off about the show hours before it was due to start and were sent an email with instructions how to collect a writstband.
Basically, they had to prove they really were Stone Roses fans and turn up with a CD cover, record sleeve or Stone Roses t-shirt to qualify for a ticket.
Liam Gallagher from Oasis turned up and tweeted ‘The Stone Roses are back’.
The show was the first time The Stone Roses have played in decades and used as a warm-up for the shows in Manchester on June 29 and 30 and July 1.
All songs in the set came from the good old days. There was no new music although the band has written four new tracks.
