The Sweet Inspirations, featuring the legendary Estelle Brown, will perform in Australia for the first time for the Elvis In Concert tribute show.
Estelle Brown and Sweet Inspirations became the female backing singers for Elvis Presley in 1969 and also opened for his shows.
Sweet Inspirations credits include Elvis Presley ‘Suspicious Minds’, Van Morrison ‘Brown Eyed Girl’, Jimi Hendrix ‘Burning of the Midnight Lamp’ and vocals on Dusty Springfield’s ‘Dusty In Memphis’.
They also did occasion live dates with Aretha Franklin and also sang on recordings for Percy Sledge and Clarence Carter.
The original Sweet Inspirations were founded by Emily ‘Cissy’ Houston, the mother of Whitney Houston. Sweet Inspirations had their own hit with ‘Sweet Inspiration’ but Cissy left in 1969.
Estelle continued with the band and in 1979 toured as a backing singer for the Bee Gees on the Spirits Having Flown tour.
In 2004 they were recruited by The Killers for the Hot Fuss album and sang backup vocals on ‘All These Things I’ve Done’.
The Sweet Inspirations will perform as part of the Elvis In Concert Australian tour.
