Melbourne’s infamous Tote Hotel was attacked at approximately 2am on the morning of Monday, October 29, 2012 by a man wielding a molotov cocktail.
The venue, which was closed at the time, was reportedly hit on the wall facing Johnston Street near the male toilets with damage being caused to one of the toilets inside.
In a statement today, the venue said:
Last night The Tote Hotel was the victim of an arson attack which damaged a small section of the male toilets. The hotel will trade as usual and no shows will be affected. One toilet will need to be replaced but other than that the only difference you’ll notice is a slight change to the aroma of the men’s room.
The police have video footage of the offender.
If anyone has any information about the idiot who could have cost bands their upcoming shows and potentially put our staff and punters in harms way, they should contact crime stoppers.
Crimestoppers can be contacted on 1800 333 000 or through their website www.crimestoppers.com.au.
In the meantime, if you are not the firebombing type, there are some pretty sweet gigs coming up at The Tote that you should check out.
