Irish folk singer-songwriter Luka Bloom will spend this weekend at Memo Music Hall in St Kilda and while he stands alone for his original work, his covers reinvent the originals.

Luka Bloom now has two dozen albums to his name. His first major international success came in 1992 when he covered LL Cool J’s ‘I Need Love’.

He has also covered Mark Seymour’s Hunters & Collectors classic ‘Throw Your Arms Around Me’.

In 1999 Luka Bloom took on Abba’s ‘Dancing Queen’.

Elvis Presley’s ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’ came around the same time as ‘I Need Love’ and featured on the same album ‘The Acoustic Motorbike’.

Luka Bloom will perform for two nights in Melbourne this weekend. Luka’s Saturday show at Memo Music Hall has sold out. Some tickets are available for Sunday.

Toto’s 2025 setlist focuses on the heritage of the band. The setlist was interesting. Compared to how it was curated for Australia in 2019 this time Toto kept to the albums of the 1900s. Mind you, there were no complaints from the audience for doing that. The biggest hits came from those early years.
