The White Stripes To Release Greatest Hits Album

The White Stripes first ever greatest hits record ‘My Sister Thanks You and I Thank You: Greatest Hits’ on 4 December.

The White Stripes have not released the tracklisting for the album yet. They are allowing you to guess at The White Stripes website.

The White Stripes had their first ever Top 40 hit, not in the UK. ‘Hotel Yorba’ reached no 26 in the UK but failed to chart in the USA or Australia.

The UK then had a run of hits for The White Stripes before they cracked another territory. ‘Fell In Love With A Girl’ reached no 21 and ‘Dead Leaves on the Dirty Ground’ reached no 25.

Even ‘7 Nation Army’ failed to chart in America. It reached no 17 in Australia and no 7 in the UK in 2003 but only peaked at no 76 in America.

Despite not grabbing the US as quickly as the rest of the world The White Stripes did manage an appearance in The Simpsons with Bart performing ‘The Hardest Button To Button’.

Chartwise, The White Stripes really don’t have any “hits” except for one Top 40 entry in the USA when ‘Icky Thump’ reached no 26 in 2007.

In 1997 a brother and sister climbed into the third floor attic of their Southwest Detroit family homestead and bashed out a primitive cover of David Bowie’s “Moonage Daydream.” In an alternate reality, it’s all they ever do musically.
