A lot of people think that the Zombies’ Odyssey & Oracle was released in 1969 because of the heavy airplay that Time of the Season received in that year but it had actually been issued over a year earlier in early-1968.
That makes 2017 the 50th anniversary of the recording of the classic album and the group is celebrating by releasing a new book on their career.
The Odyssey: The Zombies in Words and Images takes readers through the band’s career and includes rare and unseen photos, new artwork and personal memories from the band along with others such as Brian Wilson, Carlos Santana, Susanna Hoffs, Paul Weller, Graham Nash, Clive Davis, Nate Ruess of fun., and members of Cage The Elephant and Beach House. In addition, the intro was written by Tom Petty.
Among the highlights are handwritten lyrics for 22 of the Zombies’ songs including all on to Odyssey & Oracle album. Each song includes commentary from the original band members, Rod Argent, Colin Blunstone, Chris White, and Hugh Grundy.
The Odyssey: The Zombies in Words and Images will be released in March by BMG US Books and RealArtPress.
