Thin Lizzy have cancelled all Australian sideshows on their upcoming tour except for Melbourne and Penrith.
The shows would have been the final Thin Lizzy Australian shows ever. Guitarist Scott Gorham announced the end of Thin Lizzy after this Australian tour with Noise11.com in December.
In a Facebook statement today, the band posted:
“Due to circumstances way beyond the band’s control it is with deep regret that we announce the cancellation of the following headline appearances on the forthcoming Australia tour:
March 2, 2013: Selina’s Coogee Bay Hotel- Sydney, Australia
March 13, 2013: Gold Coast Coolangatta Hotel- Coolangatta, Australia
March 15, 2013: The Venue- Townsville, Australia
March 17, 2013: Brothers Leagues Hotel- Cairns, Australia
All shows announced with Kiss & Motley Crue will take place along with the Headline show at Melbourne Billboard on March 4th.
Ticket refunds are available at point of purchase”.
The final Thin Lizzy show will be on March 16 in Mackay, Queensland with Kiss and Motley Crue.
After the tour Gorham will launch his new band Black Star Riders with Darren Wharton and Jimmy Degrasso.
Gorham has not discounted a return to Thin Lizzy sometime in the future. “We are taking a break from Thin Lizzy,” he told Noise11. “The Black Star Riders is not just a side-project. It is a well and true and proper band. We’ll still go out as Thin Lizzy. There are still certain big festivals that we will do. Thin Lizzy is still on the horizon, we will still go out and do that but in the meantime we have Black Star Riders that we are going to concentrate on also”.
