A third person has died following the SXSW car crash last week that took an initial two lives and injured 23 others.
26-year old Sandy Le was taken to an Austin hospital but has not survived. Her death was confirmed by her brother-in-law Stuart Gates to the Austin Statesman.
Le was one of five people listed as critical following the smash after 22-year Rashad Owens plowed into music fans attending the SXSW music conference on crowded Red River Street, Austin in the early hours of Thursday morning. Police reported that Owens did not once try and apply the brakes of the stolen car he was driving.
Owens drove the wrong way down a one-way street and past a barricade into the crowd. He was drunk. He was charged with two counts of capital murder following the death of Steven Craenmehr (35) of The Netherlands and Jamie West (27) of the USA.
Six people are still in hospital following the tragic event.
