Tim McGraw wants to ‘move on’ from his fan-swatting scandal.

The country music crooner was caught on video getting physical with a female fan at his show at Aaron’s Amphitheatre in Atlanta, Georgia last week. His spokesperson swiftly denied claims he slapped the woman in the face, insisting the ‘swatting’ motion was in self defence.

Speaking about the incident for the first time, Tim, who is married to fellow superstar Faith Hill, told Toronto media on Monday he wishes he could put the whole thing behind him. “It happened in a split second, it was pure instinctive reaction, I think you just got to move on,’ he justified, insisting, ‘Nobody feels good about it, but there’s nothing that could be done about it.”

The singer’s comments come just days after his rep addressed TMZ’s claims about the incident. “At the end of the night during the encore, Tim was singing out in the audience and someone firmly grabbed onto his leg and wouldn’t let go as he was moving through the crowd,” the spokesperson told E! News.

“He instinctively swatted to try and keep them from ripping his jeans (which they succeeded at doing!), and so he could get to more fans who were trying to slap hands with him before the end of the show. He didn’t know who had grabbed him and was simply trying to keep his jeans from being torn.’

TMZ reports Atlanta police have sided with Tim and do not plan to charge the star with any crime.
