British electro-rap sensation Tinie Tempah tells Noise11 about his possible collaboration with Adele.
Noise11 spoke to impressive hip-hop networker Tinie Tempah who is on the verge of completing his highly-anticipated second album Demonstration.
He’s already worked with everyone from Chase & Status to Kelly Rowland to Wiz Khalifa to Lupe Fiasco to Ellie Goulding and last year he was trying to engineer a collaboration with Adele.
This was before she was struck down with vocal chord polyps, forcing her to cancel a string of shows and Tinie tells us, “After the throat thing, I really backed away”.
“Towards the middle of last year we met in LA properly and started hanging out a lot a lot a lot a lot,” he recalls, “And that was when I was kinda pushing for it the most. And after the throat thing and she stopped touring and all that she sort of – not isolated herself, but went back in a bit because she couldn’t really communicate or be out as much because of canceling shows and whatever. So I kinda just left it there.”
He did see her triumphant return at the Grammys, though, and is effusive about her success.
“She absolutely deserves that,” he says, “It’s one of those things that happens once every couple of years – someone does something so incredible in the world of music that gives everybody faith in music again and makes people think ‘Wow’ – forget digital downloads, music is still selling. She is that person.”
Tinie is still hopeful about working with her but he’s realistic: “She’s having the time of her life and if at any stage in the future [a team up] happens, that’d be great, but for now, I can imagine she must on cloud nine. It must be crazy for her.”
