Janet Jackson’s brother Tito Jackson has confirmed his baby sister is not using a surrogate to become a first-time mum at 50.
Janet confirmed the happy news that she and her husband Wissam Al Mana are expecting their first child together and revealed the baby announcement had forced her to postpone tour dates.
The singer didn’t go into great detail and rumours suggesting she was using a surrogate began to swirl, but now her brother Tito has revealed Janet is pregnant.
“She’s doing very well. She’s taking it easy,” he said on Monday’s edition of SirusXM’s Andy Cohen Live. “As you know, she is off tour, protecting her health.”
Tito also revealed the 50-year-old does not know if she is having a boy or a girl and that she is just “hoping for a healthy baby”.
The 62-year-old is not the only sibling excited about the impending arrival of the newest family member. In May, Jermaine Jackson gushed over Janet’s baby news.
“We look at her like our little baby and now she’s grown and having a baby,” Jermaine, 61, said at the time of the announcement. “I’m proud to be an uncle and I can’t wait to see how this baby is going to look.
“She’ll be a great mother because she is very tough, very strict,” he added. “But I tell her, ‘If you need any parenting skills or baby skills, let me know because I’m the best diaper changer there is on this planet, still to this day.’ ”
Jermaine is secretly hoping Janet’s baby is a little girl, stating, “We need more girls in the family. There are too many boys.”
