Todd Fisher says his mother Debbie Reynolds left to “go to Carrie” the day after his sister Carrie Fisher died.
Todd Fisher was with his mother preparing the funeral arrangements for his sister when his mother, screen legend Debbie Fisher, suffered a stroke and died soon-after.
“She said she really wanted to be with Carrie, in those precise words,” Todd told ABC’s 20/20. “Within minutes from that conversation she faded out and within 30 minutes she (technically) was gone”.
Todd said, “She closed her eyes, like you are going to sleep, and she literally went to sleep and left. I watched her leave and go to Carrie”.
He claims if anyone could do something like that it was his mother. “My mother had a way to do that and I watched it happen in from of my face,” he told 20/20.

Debbie Reynolds died on December 28. Her daughter Carrie Fisher died on December 27.
“I think she will be of great assistance to Carrie in Heaven because Carrie is really tough to handle at times and my mother was amazing,” Todd said.
He says Carrie would have started causing mischief in Heaven. “Initially she was there on her own. I’m think maybe God had a little chat with mom and said ‘get up here and give us a hand’”.

After 10 years of not communicating with each other Debbie Reynolds bought the house next door to Carrie. That way she could also be close to her granddaughter Billie.
“She bought the house next to Carrie. That was also a beautiful thing that they could be together on that level,” Todd said. “To get out of Carrie’s property you had to go by my mom. And the way out you’d walk in an see how mom’s doing”.
