Todd McKenney has been named as the host of the Helpmann Awards for 2015.
McKenney is currently starring in ‘Anything Goes’ in Melbourne. “It is an honour to host the 2015 Helpmann Awards and celebrate the immense talent within our live performance industry,” McKenney said in a statement. “I am excited to be able to share this night on stage with my peers acknowledging what an amazing industry we have here in Australia.”
McKenney has had a long association with The Helpmanns. “The Helpmann Awards celebrate Australia’s finest live performances and performers, and who better to host our annual event than one of Australia’s most well-loved, dynamic and versatile live performers, Todd McKenney,” said Everlyn Richardson, Chief Executive of Live Performance Australia. “McKenney’s charisma and aptitude in the many disciplines of performance make him an audience favourite and we are thrilled to have him as our host this year.”
The Helpmann Awards will be announced on July 27 at the Capitol Theatre in Sydney. The night will feature entertainment from the full cast of ‘Les Miserables’, a one-off performance from the cast of ‘Once’ and Australian illusionist Cosentino.
