The five guitars that were stolen from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers while they were in rehearsals for their upcoming tour have been recovered.
The guitars were reported stolen on Thursday and Petty and his people put out their own all-points bulletins throughout the social networks including pictures of the instruments and a $7,500 “no questions asked” reward.
On Tuesday, police in Southern California reported that they had arrested Daryl Washington, a security guard at the studio where the band was rehearsing, and booked him for the alleged theft. According to the police, the case broke when they received a report that one of the guitars had been sold to a pawn shop.
Petty took to his Facebook page Tuesday evening to say “I am extremely grateful to the Culver City Police Department for a job well done and touched by the outpouring of good wishes and concern from our fans and friends.”
The band’s tour starts tomorrow (Wednesday) in Broomfield, CO.
