Tom Petty has had a park named after him in Gainsville, Florida.

Gainsville is where Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers formed in 1976.

Tom Petty Park is situated in what was called Northeast Park. Tom’s daughter Adria and his bother Bruce spoke at the renaming ceremony. Bruce said, “I played in this park and Tom played in this park when we were kids and after this my grandkids and Tom’s grandchild will play in this park.”

Tom Petty would have been 68-years old on Saturday. He died on 2 October, 2017.
