On Sunday night Tony Bennett will perform live for the 54th Grammy Awards but he also performed on the very first one.
Tony loves a party and his favourite party is The Grammy Awards. “It’s so great to see old friends and new guys that are coming up,” he told the Washington Post.
The 85-year old singer was a 31-year old pop star when he sang at the first Grammy Awards in 1959. He won his first Grammy in 1963 for Best Solo Vocal Performance, Male and Record Of The Year for ‘I Left My Heart In San Francisco’.
To date he has won 15 Grammy Awards.
This Sunday night Tony Bennet will perform ‘It Had To Be You’ with Carrie Underwood, who at the age of 28 is still younger half a decade + three years later than Bennett was on the first show. The duo will perform ‘It Had To Be You’, the song they recorded together last year for his ‘Duets II’ album.
