Tony Romeril, the former lead singer of 70s hit Aussie band Autumn, is working on a new music project to honor the final work of Ted Mulry.

Mulry died of cancer in 2001, just one day before his 54th birthday. His final album ‘This Time’ was released in 1999 but went unnoticed.

“I was a close mate of Ted’s for 32 years and I spent a lot of time with him in his final months before passing away from cancer and he expressed disappointment to me that his last album ‘This Time’ did not get the credit that it deserved,” Tony tells Noise11.com. “Both he and I believed that it was the best material that he had written, and I made a promise to Ted and his beautiful partner Lynne, that I would do whatever it took to get it out there again”.

Mulry and Romeril met when they were both emerging rock stars on the Sydney music circuit. “I first met Ted in 1970 when we both had big hits, Ted had Julia and my band Autumn had Yellow River,” Tony said. “Our record companies tried to get us to record together which we all laughed off heartily, and Ted and I became mates from that meeting on”.

Romeril has started a Pozible campaign to raise funds to generate $10,000 to go towards mastering, artwork and marketing. “Although I have totally re-recorded Ted’s songs, I have tried to stay true to the integrity of his lyrics and melodies. Ted was one of Australia’s great songwriters and this has been a labour of love and respect to highlight the talents of my good mate and it has been an incredible, emotional and satisfying journey.”
