On 22 September 2014 David Bowie producer Tony Visconti and drummer Woody Woodmansey performed a show at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire on entirely Bowie covers.
The show included a complete performance of Bowie’s ‘The Man Who Sold The World’, originally produced by Visconti.
The performance was recorded and is about to be released on CD.
“I always wanted to have a go at playing the The Man Who Sold The World as it was never played live, ever. Woody and I – two of the original musicians – are still ready, willing and able. We’re joined by Glenn (Gregory), who’s not stepping into Mr Bowie’s shoes, but making this music his very own,” Visconti said in a statement.
‘The Man Who Sold The World’ features special guest performances by Heaven 17 vocalist Glenn Gregory, Marc Almond, and Spandau Ballet’s Gary Kemp,
“We stayed true to the spirit and essence of the songs, while adding a contemporary edge to them,” Woodmansey said.
