Two classic rock groups from the 70’s, Toto and Cheap Trick, have said that they are in the studio working on brand new albums.

Toto is working on their 40th anniversary album according to guitarist Steve Lukather who also said the band would be going out on a two-year long tour in celebration of their milestone.

The forthcoming set will be the band’s fifteenth and the followup to the 2015 set Toto XIV. The set reached number 98 on the Billboard 200, their first to chart since 1988’s The Seventh One.

For Cheap Trick, their upcoming album will be their eighteenth in the studio and a followup to last year’s Bang, Zoom, Crazy…Hello. Like Toto, that album became the band’s highest charting in 28 years, since 1988’s Lap of Luxury.

The band wrote on Twitter “We’ve been in the studio working on a new album – hope to have completed by spring and released at the beginning of summer 2017.”
