Travis keep things ‘Moving’ with the second single from their keenly-awaited new album, ‘Where You Stand’. Both out August 19th.
The track is brought to life by a clever, attention-grabbing video. As the band gather round a fire to fight off the biting cold, a series of animations ‘ from running men to galloping horses ‘ are projected onto their breath, in real time using no post production, to give the effect of plucking shapes and figures out of thin air for an arresting visual accompaniment.
This cutting edge animation was created using the combined expertise of MPC’s Motion Design Studio and Visual FX artists and Travis’s Fran Healy says: ‘Everyone on set became 5 years old, wide eyed, all day, watching real magic. Lots of ooohs and aahhs. It was very cool.’
A glorious blast of spring-breeze-fresh-sounding technicolour pop, ‘Moving’ was penned by Travis and produced by ‘Super Swede’ Michael Ilbert (The Hives/The Cardigans/The Wannadies). It’s an undisputed highlight of the new album which was written and recorded across London, Norway, New York, as well as Berlin’s legendary Hansa Studios.
The band, more familiar with headlining festivals than intimate venues, played a triumphant show at The Islington Assembly Hall in June ‘ their first London gig since the Astoria in 2008 – and are all set to return to T In the Park this summer, where they headlined in 2005, as well as V Festival.
With two No.1 LPs, five Top Ten singles, two Brit Awards and more than 8 million record sales, ‘Where You Stand’ is the follow-up to Travis’s 2008 album ‘Ode to J. Smith’.
Travis are singer/guitarist Fran Healy, bassist Dougie Payne, guitarist Andy Dunlop and drummer Neil Primrose.
