The ABC’s Triple J network is continuing to dominate radio listening in Australia’s top markets and create havoc for advertising agencies who cannot advertise on the government owned network.

Triple J is the number one radio station for 18-24 year olds in Sydney and Perth and no 1 station for 25-39 year olds in Melbourne and Adelaide.

The ABC’s Triple J network has a charter to provide alternative programming for the Australian market but the figures suggest that Australian’s are dissatisfied with commercial formats and are making the alternative their norm.

Triple J is number 1 in Melbourne with 25-39 commanding 15.6% of the market and in Adelaide with 20.0% of the prime 25-39 demo.
