Troy Cassar-Daley and Adam Harvey outsold Kanye West this week on the ARIA chart with a collection of country covers.

The Cassar-Daley/Harvey ‘The Great Country Songbook’ did better on the Australian chart this week than the very much-hyped Kanye West ‘Yeezus’.

Sales were close. There was less than 200 units between no 1 and 2 this week with ‘The Great Country Songbook’ selling 9,690 copies to West’s ‘Yeezus’ with 9,514.

Troy tweeted this morning, “Hey folks ‪@adamharveymusic and I have the number 1 album in Aust this week!! Awesome news to wake up to!!”

‘The Great Country Songbook’ features covers of songs by Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Hank Williams, Glen Campbell, and Aussie country icon Slim Dusty.

The Australian Chart featured a completely new Top 3. In at 3 was Empire of the Sun ‘Ice On The Dune’ with 6,473 sales.

UPDATE: Troy Cassar-Daley & Adam Harvey stripped of number one album
