Multi-instrumentalists Aidan Roberts and Daniel Holdsworth will be performing Mike Oldfield’s classic ‘Tubular Bells’ in full at the Melbourne Recital Centre in February.
‘Tubular Bells’ is part of music history. For starters it was the first album ever released by Virgin Records setting of the career of a young Richard Branson. ‘Tubular Bells’ also established the career of Mike Oldfield and was used as part of the soundtrack for The Exorcist.
On the original album, Oldfield recorded each instrument and multi-tracked them for the final release. For ‘Tubular Bells For Two’ Holdsworth and Roberts will juggle the various instruments and replicate the album over 52 minutes.
Individually, both Aidan Roberts and Daniel Holdsworth have separate careers. Roberts is the songwriter for Belles Will Ring and has released three albums with that band. Holdsworth writes for film, theatre and dance and is the singer/guitarist for The Saturns.
