Two people are dead, five are in a critical condition and 23 people have been injured in a tragic accident at SXSW.
A car ran into people attending the SXSW music conference on the corner of Red River and 10th Street, Austin in early hours of Thursday morning at around 12:30am out side of the MoHawk music venue.
Red River is one of Austin’s main music areas and the home of many of SXSW’s official venues including Stubbs.
Austin Police tweeted this evening “APD working a multiple fatality crash at 10th/Red River. PIO is responding”. They will hold a media briefing shortly. Austin Police are calling for witnesses to contact them.
Austin Police have now confirmed two people are dead and 23 were injured in the accident. An individual has in now in police custody being questioned over the accident.
23 individuals have been transported. Of those 5 are in critical condition, 2 deceased. #SXSW
