U2’s very first release, the E.P. ‘Three’ will be released as a limited edition 12” vinyl to mark November’s Record Store Day.
‘Three’ was first released 40 years ago in September, 1979. It featured the three songs ‘Out of Control’ (side A) and ‘Stories for Boys’ and ‘Boy-Girl’ (side B). U2 pressed up 1,000 copies of the E.P. and sold them all. It reached no 19 on the Irish charts.
U2 re-recorded ‘Out of Control’ and ‘Stories for Boys’ the following year for their debut album ‘Boy’. Bono wrote ‘Out of Control’ on his 18th birthday. U2 last performed the song on 11 June, 2018 in New York. It was a regular part of the 2015 ‘iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE’ tour.
‘Stories for Boys’ and ‘Boy/Girl’ had a short life span in U2 sets. ‘Stories for Boys’ hasn’t been performed since 1982. ‘Boy/Girl’ was last performed in 1981.
U2 will start their Australian tour for Live Nation in Brisbane on 12 November, 2019.
