QSP, the supergroup featuring Suzi Quatro (Q), Andy Scott of The Sweet (S) and Don Powell of Slade (P) has made their first chart appearance in Australia.
QSP has debuted on the ARIA chart this week with the self-titled debut ‘QSP’ featuring a collection of rock classics.
The members of QSP all rose to fame around the same time in the early 70s. While Suzi had a handful of singles in the 60s, it was her 1973 hit ‘Can The Can’ that first placed her at number one in the UK and Australia.
The Sweet also had a number of unsuccessful 60s hit before breaking through with ‘Wig-Wam Bam’ reaching no 15 in Australia in 1972 and then Ballroom Blitz hitting no 1 a year later.
Slade’s first top 10 hit ‘Coz O Luv You’ reached no 7 in Australia in 1971 starting a trend of a dozen Australian hits over the next four years for the band.
Slade also generated a number one album in Australia with their debut ‘Slade Alive’ in 1972.
