Yael Cohn, close friend of Ian Molly Meldrum has issued the following statement to update everyone on Molly’s condition this morning (December 21).
She says, “Molly’s condition is now listed as “serious but stable”. It’s an encouraging step forward, but his injuries remain significant and we have a way to go yet.
“Sedation levels are slowly being reduced so that the doctors can see how severe his head injury is, and this process will take several days.
Molly also has quite severe chest injuries, with lots of broken ribs and bruising to his lungs.
“He will need to stay on a ventilator for several more days, and is also likely to have surgery to repair his broken collar bone and ribs.
Molly’s doctors have told me that he will need to remain in intensive care at The Alfred for some time yet”.
That news is as good as we can expect at this stage in Ian’s recovery. We’ll let you know immediately as more is known or anything changes.
