Usher’s ex-wife Tameka Foster is ‘angry’ their son almost died.
The fashion stylist and the R&B singer nearly lost their five-year-old child Usher Raymond V to drowning earlier this month.
The boy was swimming at his father’s Atlanta, Georgia home under his aunt’s supervision when he reportedly got stuck in the pool drain while trying to get a toy.
Tameka was worried sick while Usher V was in hospital, but she acknowledges it was just an accident and doesn’t harbour ill will toward her ex-husband.
“I didn’t blame him for it; I just was angry that it happened on his watch,’ she revealed during an interview on Good Morning America Wednesday.
‘While accidents happen, never have my children been injured on my watch.”
Tameka lost her 11-year-old son from a previous relationship to a bizarre jet ski accident last summer.
The thought of losing another child triggered all sorts of painful emotions when Usher called to inform her of Usher V’s near-death experience.
“I was at a dental appointment, and he doesn’t call me regularly, so when I saw his number come up, I immediately jumped up,’ Tameka recalled.
“I don’t know if there’s a way for blood pressure to peak higher so quick. I was mad, because I was like, ‘How did this happen? Who was watching him? Why was my son underwater for, you know, nearly three minutes?’
“It was like I relived [my other son’s death last summer]. My brain just went into all those modes. I even said on the phone, ‘I’ve had this call before.’ ”
Usher V has been released from hospital and is said to be recuperating well at home.
Tameka filed legal papers requesting an emergency custody hearing shortly after the pool accident, but a judge ordered that Usher retain his primary guardianship.
