Van Halen To Perform At Grammy Nominations?

by Roger Wink, VVN Music on November 5, 2011

The Grammys will once again announce their nominations via a one-hour network televised concert which will mix performances by some of today’s biggest hitmakers (Lady Gaga, Sugarland, Ludacris) with one classic rock artist. An artist who can’t even be nominated.

No official announcement has been made and it was probably supposed to be a secret, but the official Grammy Twitter account posted the following on Thursday:

The official Grammy twitter had the following post:

“Who do you think will be reuniting for @Grammynoms? Does this hint make you wanna ‘Jump’ and ‘Dance The Night Away’?”

So it looks like Van Halen will be performing on the November 30 show, although how that relates to this year’s awards is anybody’s guess.

Van Halen did tour last year, reunited with original lead singer David Lee Roth, but it wasn’t a complete reunion as bassist Michael Anthony had been replaced by Eddie Van Halen’s son, Wolfgang. It’s that same group that has been in the studio recording a new album, their first with Roth since 1984, which is expected early next year. Rumors are that the release date may be announced at the Grammy event along with a song performance.
