Taylor Swift is on track to spend a third week at No.1 on the ARIA Singles chart with “Shake it off”, which would in turn become her longest run at the top of the Australian charts, as her only other chart-topper; “Love Story” spent two broken weeks at No.1 in 2009.
With Ariana Grande in the country at the moment on a promo tour, her performance on The X-Factor this past week has propelled her current chart entries all back up the charts, with “Bang Bang” (TW-11) on track for a Top 5 berth (also helped by it being sung by an XF contestant too), “Break Free” (TW-16) back into the Top 10 and “Problem” (TW-38) jumping into the Top 20. Also X-Factor judge Redfoo this week jumped into the Top 10 with “New Thang” (TW-9) which could climb into the Top 5 on the next chart, whilst another of the XF performers, Dean Ray should help the George Ezra song “Budapest” (TW-14) back into the Top 10.
Hilary Duff also sang on the X-Factor this week, and her current entry “All About You” (HP-69) could jump back into the charts, possibly in the Top 10, more-so the Top 20. We could also see the newly released Calvin Harris and John Newman single “Blame” either land within the ten or just outside of it, whilst remaining within the Top 10 should be G.R.L., Timmy Trumpet with Savage and Klingande.
Echosmith halved their position this week with “Cool Kids” (60 to 30), which could halve again by jumping to No.15 this weekend, whilst Nathaniel could see his third chart entry with his new track “Live Louder” debuting within the Top 20. “Fireball” (TW-31) for Pitbull looks likely to keep rising into the Top 30 and the teaming of City and Colour front man Dallas Green with the singer Pink should see their first collaboration “You and Me” (also the name of their duo/group) land a Top 30 debut, as too the new Fall Out Boy song “Centuries”, which has the Suzanne Vega song “Tom’s Diner” and its doo-doo da-da-doo-doo’s looped throughout the song.
X-Factor: The show should could see entries not only from Dean Ray and “Budapest”, but also Reigan Derry with her version of “Bang Bang”, Brother3 with “Pompeii”, with the original by Bastille also likely to return, the same for “Strong” by this weeks eliminated contestant Sydnee Carter and the original for London Grammar returning. There could also be entries via Caitlyn Shadbolt with “You and I”, and Marlisa Punzalan with her version of the ‘Frozen’ theme song “Let it Go”.
Nickelback look set for a second entry for this year with “What Are You Waiting for?” currently sitting within the Top 40, with the same for The Script (Top Forty entry and second single from upcoming album) with their new track “Army of Angels”. Missy Higgins’ weekly release from her upcoming “OZ” album this week is the Divinyls song “Back to the Wall”, and The Janoskians could chart with their new track “That’s What She Said” (both Top 60).
“Down to Earth” is the debut album for Flight Facilities (due Oct 24), and potential chart entry “Two Bodies” with Emma Louise could debut within the Top 70, whilst Lady Antebellum could chart with their new single “Bartender”, with the new 5 Seconds of Summer EP for “Amnesia” just released, bonus (non-album) track “Daylight” (both Top 80). Albums:
The debut album for local act Vance Joy entitled “Dream Your Life Away” is on track for the new No.1 album spot on the ARIA Charts this weekend, whilst current visitor to our shores Ariana Grande who hit the top two weeks ago with “My Everything” (TW-8) could rebound back up into the top three albums in the country.
Retaining their Top 10 status should be Sam Smith, Hilltop Hoods, Jimmy Barnes, Paloma Faith, Guardians of the Galaxy Soundtrack and Ed Sheeran, whilst current tourist Kanye West could see his former No.1 set “Yeezus” return to either the Top 10 or high end of the Top 20, with Christian hip-hop act Lecrae currently selling high on several digital album charts with his seventh studio album “Anomaly”.
Meghan Trainor will be in the country next week for a promo visit (and an X-Factor performance), and her “Title-EP” is currently Top 20, whilst also on track for a twenty area berth is the debut set for US singer/songwriter BANKS entitled “Goddess” and the fifth album for New York act Interpol entitled “El Pintor”. The US rapper Rittz (real name Jonathan McCollum) could enter with his second release “Next to Nothing”, and The Tea Party could debut with “The Ocean at the End”, also The Brave with their EP “Endless” and the new Counting Crows set “Somewhere under Wonderland” could all potentially enter this weeks ARIA Albums chart.
