Victoria’s pro-active Andrews Labor Government has announced new fast turnaround Music Works grants for five Victorian acts and two music managers to attend the CMJ Festival in New York in October.
Melanie Lewis, manager of Ngaire and Catherine Haridy, manager of Tigertown, as well as Fraser A Gorman, the Pierce Brothers, Good Morning, Sui Zhen and Slum Sociable will be able to attend CMJ funded by the Music Works grants.
Music Works is an initiative by the Andrews Labor Government, under the direction of Minister for Creative Industries Martin Foley.
“The Quick Response Grants program is part of the Labor Government’s Music Works initiative – an unprecedented $12.2 million package of programs to support and strengthen Victorian’s contemporary music industry,” Mr Foley said in a statement.
“As a flagship event for musicians looking to break into the world’s biggest music market, the Andrews Labor Government is proud to support this diverse group of local acts striving to become the next big thing.”
For the quick response program individuals and groups can apply for grants of between $1,000 and $5,000, while groups and organisations are eligible to apply for up to $15,000.
All recipients will be travelling to New York City to participate in the CMJ Music Marathon from 13-17 October 2015.

The Music Works Quick Response program will currently offer four grant rounds each year. The next closing date is Monday 5 October 2015.
