Victorian Government Creates ‘Ticket Cop’ Police Force

The Australian music industry has had another victory this week in Victoria with the pro-active Dan Andrew’s Labor Government announcing new legislation to create a force of ‘ticket cops’ to enforce the illegal sale tickets at inflated prices.

The new task force will be charged with the ability to go after vultures Viagogo and Gumtree who use their technology platform as a playground for scalping.

WARNING: NEVER buy tickets from Viagogo or Gumtree. Often fake tickets are sold at inflated prices and will not be honored at the venue.

The latest Victorian government budget has allowed for the creation of an authorised ticketing officer taskforce to be created to patrol major events including music and sporting events.

The Andrews’ Labor government announced its intention to police scalpers via new legislation drawn up in November 2017.

Under earlier law the policing of scalping was limited to sports events. The previous Major Sporting Events Act 2009 has been renamed Major Events Acts 2009, and now covers the music industry.

The First Hour of The First Day On 2JJ (Double J) Sydney 19 January 2025

Double J was a Sydney only radio station when it first went to air at 11am on 19 January 1975. The first song played was Skyhooks ‘You Just Like Me ‘Cos I’m Good In Bed’ chosen because it was Australian, it was rebellious (because the song was banned at the time which reflected the rebellious image of the station) and being part of the ABC was not subject to the licencing laws of the commercial radio stations.
