When Roger Daltrey tours Australia in April, fans of The Who will witness Pete Townshend’s icon rock opera ‘Tommy’ performed in its entirety.
The album, released in 1969, was the fourth album for The Who.
Today, Rolling Stone magazine ranks the album at number 96 on its 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list.
Pete Townshend composed the work about the deaf, dumb and blind boy. His original inspiration for the story came from the teachings of Indian spiritual leader Meher Baba. He would later write the song ‘Baba O’Reilly’ with inspiration from Meher Baba.
