Boy George says The Doors were one of his biggest influences.
George appeared on Conan this week along with Jack Black and was enticed by host Conan O’Brien to perform a Doors classic with Robby Krieger of The Doors.
George said growing up “I never got past the 70s. Stones, Beatles, The Doors, Bowie, punk rock, Soiuxsie and the Banshees” he said. “That’s where I Go back to”.
“I don’t hear The Doors,” Conan replied.
Jack Black chirped in. “Jim Morrison had the best yell and to this day no-one had a better yell”. “And it was beautiful,” George added.
They then performed ‘Hello I Love You’, a Doors classic from 1968.
The track was an early song from The Doors but not used for years after it was written. It was one of six songs on their demo tape sent to Aura Records in 1965. ‘Hello I Love You’ was a single written by Jim Morrison and was eventually released on the third Doors album ‘Waiting For The Sun’. It sold over one million copies in the USA.
