Katy Perry has released a lyric video for her new song ‘Roar’.
The lyric video has recently gained popularity for artists and labels who wish to rush release a music video for a new song without the expense of a major production.
Prince released the first lyric video for his song ‘Sign O’ The Times’ in 1987. George Michael’s record label made one for ‘Praying For Time’ in 1990 because George refused to appear in a traditional video.
Now, everyone is doing it.
Today Katy Perry tweeted, “Now YOU can #ROAR louder than a lion too! Lyric video starring Myself, Kitty Purry & some of my closest buds here’.
‘Roar’ is the first single from Katy Perry’s 4th album ‘Prism’ due in October. Confirmed tracks for the album so far as ‘Double Rainbow’, ‘Bad Photographs’, ‘It Takes Two’, ‘Unconditional’ and ‘Roar’.
Katy Perry is the biggest artist left to release an album in 2013 based on her previous release sales. Katy’s last album ‘Teenage Dream’ sold 2.7 million copies in the USA. Lady Gaga will release her third album ‘ARTPOP’ in November. Her last album ‘Born This Way’ sold 2.1 million in the USA.
