Wendy Hughes, one of Australia’s greatest actresses, has lost her battle with cancer. She was 61.
Wendy studied acting to the National Institute of Drama (NIDA) and then worked for the Melbourne Theatre Company. In 1974 she starred in her first major picture ‘Petersen’ alongside Jack Thompson and Jacki Weaver.
Wendy’s string of movies includes ‘Newsfront’, ‘My Brilliant Career’, ‘Careful He Might Hear You’, ‘An Indecent Obsessions’ and ‘Luigi’s Ladies’. She then made her American film debut in ‘Happy New Year’ alongside Charles Durning and Peter Falk.
Wendy Hughes also played a part in ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ ass one of Captain Picard’s love interests.
She also appeared in ‘The Man Who Sued God’ with Billy Connolly.
