The body of Whitney Houston is on its way back to her hometown of Newark.
Whitney’s body is expected to arrive in the New Jersey town later this evening and a funeral is being planned for this Friday.
The family is also considering a wake and viewing on Thursday.
Whitney’s funeral will most likely take place at the Newark Prudential Center. The venue can hold 18,000 people.
Whigham’s Funeral Home in Newark is taking care of arrangements. The company buried Whitney’s father John Houston in 2003.
Whitney was born and raised in Newark. Her first public appearance as a singer was in the Newark New Hope Baptist Church. Her mother, gospel star Cissy Houston ran the choir. He cousin Dionne Warwick also sang in the church.
Thousands of mourners are expected to view the body on Thursday.
Whitney died on Friday night (California time) at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. She was 48.
