Whitney Houston’s daughter has confirmed she’s engaged to her ‘adopted brother’ while lashing out at critics.
Bobbi Kristina Brown, the late singer’s daughter with former pop star Bobby Brown, was linked to Nick Gordon shortly after her mother’s February 2012 death.
Reports surfaced last year Nick had proposed and Bobbi has taken to Twitter several times since referring to him as her ‘fiancé’.
The romantic relationship sparked criticism as Nick was taken in and raised by Whitney, who is said to have called him her ‘son’.
Bobbi, 20, posted a statement on Facebook early Wednesday morning targeting critics who say their relationship is incestuous.
“YES, we me nick are engaged [sic]. I’m tired of hearing people say ‘eww your engaged to your brother or if Whitney was still alive would we be together or would she approve of this [sic],'” she wrote.
Bobbi clarified the pair are not blood related. She also insisted her mother knew a romantic relationship would one day erupt between them.
“Let me clear up something, we aren’t even real brother and sister nor is he my adoptive brother,’ Bobbi continued. ‘My mom never adopted him. In fact, mommy was the one who even said that she knew that we were going to start dating.’
The aspiring actress also hinted at tension between family members and loved ones over the union.
She asked that anyone who disapproves look at the bigger picture and see how happy her mate makes her.
“My mom knows me better than any of you. A lot of yall are saying that yall are only saying this all out of love. Which is bull because if that was so, all you would want is for me to be happy,’ Bobbi wrote.
She signed off with a message that appeared to be aimed at those she may not know.
Bobbi said she was done putting energy into criticism about her relationship.
“People need to seriously stop judging my relationship,’ she resolved. ‘Pretty sure it’s my own decision who I want to be with. Yes, my relationship may not be perfect. We will have rough patches, just like every other relationship. And we have had our rough patches. You may or may not agree with my relationship. You may or may not respect it. Judge me, go ahead. Your opinions are yours and mine are mine. It is my life and not yours. The decisions I make have nothing to do with you. Goodnight,” she concluded.
