There are a lot of people that are invested in the movie Sparkle from former American Idol Champion Jordan Sparks, who is making her movie debut, to director Salim Akil and Sony Pictures but, as far as the family of Whitney Houston is concerned, it’s all about them.
At least that is what has been reported by Roger Friedman at Showbiz411.com. The movie opens on August 16 and, in Hollywood, it’s important to get the film out before the critics well before opening day. Those early showings are usually capped by the premier sometime during the week running up to the opening.
Unfortunately, the family of Whitney Houston are making ongoing demands on the film company that have pushed the premier to, at best, August 15, the night before the opening. The reason? They don’t want Sparkle to premiere anything near what would have been Houston’s 49th birthday on August 9.
Then there is the circus that is the Houston family with Bobbi Kristina possibly dating her stepbrother, relatives that have been “cut-out” of the family and other issues, making it hard to know who will even attend, whenever it is finally premiered.
The movie will feature the final songs recorded by Whitney Houston. Whitney recorded two songs for the Sparkle movie.
Stay tuned. The fireworks are, most likely, just beginning.
