Whitney Houston’s final film, which contains her final recordings, will be released on August 17. The soundtrack album for the film Sparkle will be out on July 31 with Houston singing on two of the eleven tracks.

Based on the 70’s film, Houston is the mother of the title character played by former American Idol champion Jordan Sparks. Sparks herself performs on six tracks while Carmen Ejogo is on four. Houston sings the gospel standard His Eye is on the Sparrow and duets with Sparks on Celebrate.
Four of the Curtis Mayfield songs from the original film have made it to the new soundtrack (marked with an asterisk below). R. Kelly wrote the new music in the film.
