London-based Will And The People took a risk in self-financing their first Australian tour earlier this year.
The reggae-popsters’ budget did not allow for a tour manager, or even accommodation, leaving the band to depend on fans’ generosity to offer them shelter for a night or two. Some luckless nights they even made Aussie beaches their beds!
The band experienced floods, tropical storms and scorching summer heat, including navigating a wrong turn down the coast to Melbourne, making the usual 11-hour drive a total of 20.
Nevertheless, it paid off and now they’re set to return to our shores in November to support the release of their second album Friends and new single, ‘Holiday’.
Vocalist Will Rendle says of the new release, “It’s about revelling in the stereotypical holiday culture that has swept our nation through aviation”.
‘Holiday’ will be released on 14 September, taken from the forthcoming album Friends, to be released on 12 October.
