William Patrick Corgan To Release Second Solo Album ‘Ogilala’

William Patrick Corgan, the artist formerly known as Billy Corgan, will release his second solo album ‘Ogilala’ in October.

Corgan’s first solo album ‘TheFutureEmbrace’ was released in 2005. It stiffed.

“For as long as I can remember the delineation point between songs I wrote for myself and songs I’d pen for whatever band was something I couldn’t explain. And it remains so, for they all feel quite personal to me, no matter their time or era. The lone difference on songs for Ogilala is that they seemed to want little in the way of adornment,” said Corgan. “Having written the songs for voice and guitar, I put myself in Rick’s hands to take the music wherever he’d like. Normally I would have done more, and tinkered more on production, but rather Rick put the onus on me to deliver at a molecular level via live takes. The rest was simply a reaction.”

The first taste of the album is ‘Aeronaut’.

The Libertines, Reverend and the Makers, The Forum, Tuesday 15th April, 2025

In 2004, The Libertines toured Australia for the first time, without Pete Doherty, due to his drug addictions. When the rest of the band toured Japan, feeling betrayed he burgled Carl Barat’s flat and was jailed for six months. Since then, Doherty has toured with the band notably in 2018, where they also played the Forum and, on this sold-out show, clearly devoid of drugs and shenanigans of the past, the two albeit more mature founding members Doherty and Barat have well and truly buried the hatchet.
