Trippy indie experimentalists Yeasayer are streaming their new album Fragrant World a week before release.
The Brooklyn act have been sneaking out tunes here and there, from ‘Henrietta’ to a “video vignette” for ‘Longevity’.
Now they’ve decided to just get the whole album out there. They did a little online scavenger hunt yesterday which precipitated all the tunes getting out there anyway, so they thought they may as well control it.
They write in a press release, “We have received message that we are on the verge of embargoed information being leaked through the cracks of the digital universe. Once again an attempt to tell the story before our mouths can spit. In order to have the edge we have created PSCYVOTV standing for PREEMPTIVE SELF-COMMISSIONED YEASAYER VORSTELLUNG or TRACK VISUALIZER.”
That actually means a video accompaniment by Yoshi Sodeoka, who did the original vignette (and the latest Presets video, incidentally).
Go to their YouTube channel to watch and listen. Fragrant World will be officially released on Friday 17 August.
