Yusuf Islam, AKA Cat Stevens, plans the world premiere of his new Moonshadow musical in Melbourne.
Moonshadow will feature a collection of music from Islam’s career, all the way back to when he was known as Cat Stevens, to tell the “magical story of a young man and his moonshadow’s struggle against the oncoming of darkness”.
While that sounds slightly enigmatic, a press release reassures us that “It’s about hopes and dreams; greed and power; right and wrong; but most importantly Moonshadow is about happiness and love.”
The musical will feature classics like ‘Father and Son’, ‘Wild World’, ‘Morning Has Broken’, ‘Peace Train’, and ‘First Cut is the Deepest’.
It will have its world premiere at the Princess Theatre in Melbourne in May 2012. General sales will being in February next year, but fans can register now for priority booking at the Moonshadow site.
